It is stunning that Jesus came out of the wilderness from fasting for 40 days and described His complete satisfaction in the Word of God: “Man does not live by bread alone, but by ever word that comes from the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4). Our Savior’s total satisfaction in God’s Word stands in stark contrast to the futile vanity of this present world. But for those who delight themselves in word of our God, Scripture can be a life-giving, soul-satisfying, and thirst-quenching connection to the Almighty today as well.
