John was known as the “the beloved discple,” since he knew so much of Christ’s love and wrote so clearly about how Christians ought to love one another. So we should pay careful attention to how to love those who sacrifice time and treasure for the cause of missions, as the Apostle John wrote us 3 John: “You will do well to send them on their journey in a manner worthy of God. For they have gone out for the sake of His Name…” (3 John 6 – 7). We want to send Ashley Smeby, Eric Schafer, and Brielle Smeby – along with their GoServ Global team – out to Haiti in a way that honors Jesus Christ through it all!
One important way we can do this is by praying for the team. Would you take a few minutes each day to pray for them? Below are some suggestions.
Prayer Requests
Thursday – Pray for safety as they travel, no logistical problems with airports/luggage, patience & kindness
Friday – Pray for good first impressions, that the Lord would open their hearts to the poverty in Haiti, that He would prepare the orphans’ hearts for our team will be serving
Saturday – Pray our team would have a good experience with Haitian culture – the cuisine, the weather, the language, and the customs, and that they would learn how the Gospel can flourish in these cultures
Sunday – Ask the Lord to give our team a great time of worship with the Haitian people, to learn more about God in a foreign context, and to bind them in unity in the Spirit
Monday – Pray for the Lord to bless the local ministry workers, and for our team to be an encouragement, relief, and support to their ministry labors
Tuesday – Intercede for our team that they would see how big God is away from home, and that Jesus would claim their hearts more fully for Himself through this whole experience
Wednesday – Pray that God would encourage them as they have tearful goodbyes, that relationships would be established and strengthened, and that their return travels would go forward without incident
Thursday and beyond – Pray that God would give them a passion for missions, and to return with zeal for what He is doing, that we would be blessed by their experience and what they share with us
May the Lord of the Church move within us – and our Haiti team – as we seek Him together in prayer!
