Passion 2025

Passion 2025
“Precious Lamb”

“Christ is risen! He is risen indeed!” Very soon, we will once again be celebrating a central event for our faith and the blessed hope of believers – the Resurrection! To help us prepare for this exciting time, we want to make sure we “keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith” (Hebrews 12:2). As we ponder our the last day of Jesus before He died as an eternal sacrifice, we will ask God to bring us deeper into Christ by faith, especially for some of the upcoming events.

Events

Ash(-less) Wednesday
Zion does not offer an Ash Wednesday service, but you can learn about our approach to fasting, the Church calendar, and so much more here.

Catechism Sunday
As we move into the Passion season, the Heidelberg Catechism helps us to hold to the “pattern of sound words” (II Tim 1:13) and the “faith once for all delivered” (Jude 3). A Coffee reception follows worship.
Sermon: “Precious Blood of the Lamb” from I Peter 1:17-19

Palm Sunday
Our Sunday school students lead us in palms and singing “Hosanna!” from Mark 11, there will be professions of faith, and we look for how Jesus’ blood brings its power in worship.
Sermon: “Believe in Christ Through Christ” from I Peter 1:21

Maundy Thursday
At 7pm, our church family will remember the Last Supper, Christ’s new commandment, and worship in the Word and Communion.
Sermon: “The Lamb’s Blood” from Isaiah 53:6
Sermon: “Controlled By Love” from II Corinthians 5:13-14
