A memorial service in honor of Raymond Thompson will be held at Zion Evangelical & Reformed Church, in Garner, IA on Tuesday, June 27th at 7:30 pm. The Rev. Brian J. Lund will be officiating, with family, friends, and fellow church members invited to share at the service.

Raymond Thompson, 43, of Garner, Iowa, died Tuesday, June 13, 2023 in Cedar Rapids. Some family held a celebration of life service locally on a previous date.

Ray was survived by his children, Selena Dameron, Zoe Baker, Josiah McCrory, Isaiah Dykstra, Franky Christeson, and Jaxxon Thompson; siblings, Billy (Stephanie) Allison, David Cox, Melissa Sanders, Corissa (Kenneth) Wade, and Mark Johnson; three grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Raymond Joseph was born to David and Toni (Cox) Thompson on September 12, 1979 in Des Moines. He was interested in mission trips around the country, and shared his faith through his prison and recovery ministries. He loved his children unconditionally. Ray loved cars, shoes, serving at meetings, and football, especially rooting on the Chicago Bears.
