Intellectual Discipleship

“You shall love the Lord your God with… all your mind…”

We want to train young and old to follow God with all that we have, and that includes our minds. On Sunday, June 25th, join us in the evening for Intellectual Discipleship to learn more about following God in the truth, in what we know, and how these ideas change our lives.

There are important questions:

  • Does God really exist?
  • Do I have to check my brain at the door of the church, or do things like reason, science, and proofs have a place to play in Christianity?
  • Why are atheists so against the claims of Jesus and the Bible, and do they have a point?
  • What are moral, teleological, and cosmological arguments for God?
  • If I don’t believe the Bible is a divine book, is there any reason to believe there is a God?
  • What do we see in our universe – as a material existence, with values, a purpose, and more – that tells us something about what Reality is, and what we can know and believe?

These questions, and so many others, are important for the Christian faith, so that as Michael Horton says, we can “know what we believe and why we believe it.” Searchers and truth-seekers have questions. Young people want to know if there faith is detached from Reality, or if it can be backed up as reasonable in the universe we find ourselves in. Christians need to know how to show that our beliefs are not irrational, and how to winsomely point others to Jesus, the Answer to all our questions, the Wisdom of God that makes foolish the wisdom of people.

Consider some of the common objections people have to following Christ. Answering these kinds of questions is a step in apologetics:

Make plans to on Sunday, June 25th in the evening to study these truths. You will learn more about apologetics, our own Caleb Renner will be sharing his studies, and we will look at divine Truth. Light refreshments will be provided. More details will be coming soon.

See you on June 25th!
